A traditional tried & tested remedy combining the anti-allergic and anti-inflammatory properties of Elderflower (Sambuccus nigra), Nettle (Urtica dioica) and Plantain (Plantago spp.).  This recipe creates an infusion.

Take the a couple of leaves of Plantain and Nettle (fresh or dried), and a 50p-sized piece of fresh elderflowers and place in a small tea pot or a mug.

Cover in freshly boiled water and cover with teapot lid... or.... a small saucer over the mug for 5-10 minutes. This keeps all the lovely fragrant compounds in the infusion so that they do not evaporate away.

Drink as needed, 3-4 times a day.

For really a effective hay fever kick, you should start with infusions of the (dried) herbs a month or two earlier than your difficult 'season'. Traditional techniques for managing hay fever include adding local honey and bee pollen to your diet. It is suggested this may expose your immune system to the local pollens and have a 'de-sensitising' effect.
